Memorial Ceremonies

The beauty of a memorial ceremony, is that it can be anything you’d like it to be

Memorials normally take place after a funeral. They can provide an opportunity to honour your loved one’s life if the funeral was unattended, provide an opportunity to say farewell for those who were unable to make the funeral, or provide an opportunity to say a final farewell when ashes are scattered, or buried. Memorial ceremonies may be:

  • An outdoor ceremony for a scattering of ashes or an interment of ashes.

  • An indoor or outdoor ceremony, commemorating and celebrating the person’s life

  • A bespoke ceremony, with indoor and outdoor element

Memorials - What to consider

Some memorials ceremonies may be small, intimate and simple. A Scattering of Ashes Ceremony for instance, could be a brief but meaningful farewell, in an outdoor space special to your loved one.

Other ceremonies, may be longer and comprise more elements. There are a few things to consider, when planning a larger memorial ceremony. Here are some things you may wish to think about:

  • Hiring a suitable venue - taking into account: location, capacity, parking and accessibility

  • Obtaining music, and operating music systems or speakers

  • Deciding whether you would like to send invites

  • Whether anyone would like to speak during the service - be it sharing memories, reflections or a readings

  • Whether you would like a programme or order of service producing

  • Whether you would like to have a social gathering afterwards

I will arrange to meet you to help you to plan all aspects of the ceremony as well as write the script, and deliver on the day.

I charge the same fee for planning and delivering a memorial ceremony, as I do for a funeral. Please get in touch below for more information:
